Lauren & Sam got married at La Bella Vista on the 29th of June. It was a beautiful day with light rain showers (you know the saying), rain is good luck! However leading up to their day was not the calm wedding week they had planned for. We had a few conversations about the weather as it was not looking great, so we talked about adjusting timelines and options for umbrellas. On top of the stress of the weather, Sam and Lauren were both sick leading up to the wedding! However, as they say, they really meant it when they vowed “in sickness and in health!”
Lauren and Sam got ready separately at the hotel and then we drove to the Waterbury Town Hall for their first look. As many of you know by now, we absolutely love first looks! It is truly the only time you get to spend alone with your partner on your wedding day and it is usually the most emotional moment for the couple.
Sam and Lauren are a wonderful example as to why we recommend them. They hadn’t seen each other since the night before, and their nerves were high with the stress of the day. However, the instant they saw each other “the world stood still.” They said when they had locked eyes they suddenly felt a wave of calmness and they “felt the best they had their entire lives.”
“All of the chaos from the previous days no longer took refuge in our minds. The rest of our problems simply melted away.”
“And we realized that’s exactly what marriage is. There will be so many highs and lows in our lives but as long as we are going through it together, there’s no storm we can’t endure. And in the face of things not quite going right, we do what we do best and laugh arm in arm together.”
If that didn’t sell a first look to any of our up coming brides & groom’s, I don’t know what will! Yes, we love the extra time to take pictures, however its the love we see during first looks that truly makes us want that for all of our sweet couples! Wedding days go by so fast, we promise you that! You will want all the extra time with your partner that you can get!

No matter how much planning goes into a wedding day, there will always be something that goes unplanned. Sometimes you have to embrace the weather or laugh at the little mistakes.
Lauren and Sam said “Our wedding day wasn’t without its flaws – for example, Lauren messed up her vows and put Sam’s wedding band on the wrong finger. But in a way, it was the perfect representation of us and that’s what made it the perfect day.”
Over the years, wedding after wedding, I find the imperfections to be the truly memorable moments. The moments that bring out the best laughs, and show how small the imperfections in the world are now that you have your partner by your side.
“As we reflect on the little moments that made up the day, we can’t help but feel grateful to have been surrounded by the people that make us whole. Having amazing food, music, and company was the absolute BEST feeling in the entire world.
As we embark on this next chapter as husband and wife, through all the little wrinkles that make up a marriage, we will always think of June 29th, 2024 as our best day!”

From running to get a few pictures in the rain, to listening to your sweet vows, and even noticing Lauren placing the ring on the wrong finger because you two were so caught up in each other to notice!
