It was only a year ago that we were meeting our friends Gina & Mike at their engagement session. We remember when they struggled not to laugh when leaning in for a kiss in front of the camera. We connected with Gina and Mike during their session and have been friends ever since! We have stayed in touch on Facebook, talking at least once a month! We met Gina for lunch at Panera Bread one day to go over wedding details. We still laugh when we think about how Gina fought Zac over who would pay for our Asian Sesame salads (Shelby’s favorite). Gina ended up winning after a long battle that even included the cashier! We were looking forward to their goofy personalities on their big day!
Saturday was absolutely gorgeous. After our heat wave we had of over 90 degrees for a few days, Gina messaged us hoping for it to cool down. She got her wish! It was a warm day with a nice breeze. The sun was shining and so was Gina’s smile when we arrived to her childhood home. Gina’s whole family was there to welcome us in and laughter quickly filled the room. The whole family gathered around to see Gina getting into her dress before she went on her way in a white limo.
The ceremony was at a beautiful stone church. Mike was beaming at the end of the aisle as he watched Gina walk with her dad. They shared vows and lit a unity candle. We all were included in the ceremony by saying “we do” when asked if we would support their relationship today and in the future. When they were pronounced husband and wife, the two smiled ear to ear and quickly shared a kiss. They were no longer nervous kissing in front of a camera or their many guests! They smiled and laughed as they walked down the aisle together for the first time as Mr & Mrs Parent!
The bridal party traveled in the limo over to a beach themed reception at a beautiful hotel. They had seashell place cards, a wooden anchor for guests to sign, and a candy station. Gina and Mike started off the reception with their first dance. They had a slide show of those who were unable to attend the wedding and lit a candle in remembrance. The best man and maid of honor gave heart warming speeches, bringing tears to everyones eyes.
We all got to laugh along with Gina and Mike during the bouquet and garter toss. Gina started by tossing her rose bouquet. She not only hit the light above her once, but twice, leaving a beautiful green stem bouquet to be caught at the end! Mike then kicked off his garter toss by climbing under Gina’s dress, making the entire crowd laugh. Then the youngest boy at the wedding ended up catching it!
At the end of the night, we put our cameras down and danced with the bride and groom! We had so much fun with Gina & Mike, and their family and friends! We can’t wait to see them again in the future for a double date or to photograph their family in the future!
