I have started asking my brides and grooms for some highlights of their relationship so that I had a few key points to write about in their blogs. Well Sam & Lauren took my question and ran with it! So here is our first blog post, entirely written by one of our couples!
Sam and Lauren first met in August 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. Both having received the same medical technology scholarship from Marist College, they bonded over living far away from their families. Lauren was working evening shift and Sam was working night shift, but they always enjoyed seeing each other in passing. Even during the most grueling days, they always tried to make the other one laugh or smile. They admired each other’s intelligence and strong work ethic. They constantly joked around with coworkers and soon realized their similar senses of humor. They became friends on SnapChat in March 2018 and constantly sent each other emojis and punny jokes. They soon became best friends, spending much of their free time bowling, roller skating, talking about movies and music, and getting waffles from the local diner.
In January 2019, they realized they were meant to be more than friends and began dating! They moved into their first apartment together and traveled to Ireland. Then, COVID happened. Being essential healthcare workers, they worked many exhausting shifts at the hospital. After realizing they wanted to be closer to family, they relocated to Connecticut in early 2021 and began their jobs at Hartford Hospital. In January 2022, they got their wonderful German Shepherd, Beck, and their whole life changed for the better! They realized they needed a big yard for their growing pup and quickly began the stressful house hunt. They finally purchased their first home together in June 2022. In September 2022, Lauren and Sam took a family vacation to the Berkshires. The day before Lauren’s birthday, Sam enlisted his brother’s help to set up a romantic proposal in one of his favorite spots – an apple orchard! Sam sneakily asked Lauren to go for a walk and as she rounded the corner, she heard their song playing and saw the magical setup. Sam got down on one knee and asked the easiest question of his life, to which Lauren had the easiest answer: yes!
Sam and Lauren’s favorite activities include playing with Beck, making pizza, playing cards, doing impressions, and sending each other hilarious memes. As they embark on this exciting next chapter of their lives together, they cannot wait to continue one upping each other’s jokes, creating new memories, and being each other’s best friend. Sam and Lauren are each other’s safe havens and soul mates and they are forever grateful that the right circumstances led them to each other. They cannot wait to celebrate their love with their family and friends on June 29th, 2024!
