Sam and John decided that Harkness would be the perfect location for their engagement shoot, just like many of our other couples! However, their decision to use Harkness as the backdrop to their engagement shoot, had a little more meaning! Sam and John met on a dating app, and at the time, Sam was babysitting her Mom’s dogs. Since she was bringing the dogs to Harkness for a walk, she decided to invite John along for their first date. They hit it off right there!
About a year and a half after their first date, it was Christmas morning. John let their dog Milo inside, and tied the engagement ring to his collar. After a good search for Milo (he locked himself in their bedroom), Sam saw the ring, and said “yes!”
Our engagement sessions are our time to meet our couples and get to know them before their big day! We want them to feel comfortable in front of us and in front of the camera. At first, we could tell Sam and John were nervous for their session, but at the end, we were able to get them to come out of their shell! (Make sure to scroll to the bottom to see what we mean!)
Their engagement session was a little shorter than our normal session time, as they were getting married the same week as their session. We wanted to let them get home to finish up all the last minute prep for their big day, (including paint their house, before guests came), but are so happy with the images we were able to capture for this sweet couple!
Make sure to stay tuned for their wedding blog post, it should be up very soon!
Lot’s of love,
Shelby & Zachary
We now know to be a little more specific with our posing instruction….
“Okay, let’s do a twirl here!”
“Do you guys want to do a lift?”
