Brianne and Drew’s Mystic Engagement Session

When we first met Brianne, she told us the story of how her and Drew started dating. They met as Army ROTC cadets in 2015. They didn’t start talking until two years later, when Brianne was living in Texas. She saw Drew’s cat, Sir Isaac Newton, and fell in love. Brianne is a total cat lover, having two cats herself, and Drew luckily owned her favorite breed, a Russian Blue. Brianne kept talking to Drew in order to meet his cat, so they Facetimed a lot for about three weeks, and at that point they knew they had found “the one!” When Brianne came back to Connecticut, they were finally able to go on a real date, and she finally got to meet Sir Isaac Newton!

Fast forward to June, Drew and Brianne went on a cruise together. Drew set up a private photo session with the on board photographer. Brianne thought this was a normal cruise activity and had fun roaming the boat taking photos. What Brianne did not know, was when the photographer asked her to face out toward the sunset, that Drew would get down on one knee. When she turned around, she saw his loving smile, and a gorgeous oval shaped diamond ring, designed by Drew.

Zachary has known Drew since they were kids, Drew is a cousin to Zac’s cousin. Zac’s family hosts a Sunday night dinner each week, and that’s where we first met Brianne. We talked about our weddings and found out they are getting married the day after us! What a coincidence! That night we were talking to Zac’s cousin, Jordan, about our upcoming styled shoot with her when Brianne offered to fill one of the bridesmaids spots for us! After Brianne modeled for our shoot, we started talking more and decided to do an engagement shoot with them! Although we could not photograph their wedding, we thought we could at least get some fun engagement pictures with them!

When trying to find a location for this engagement shoot, we knew we wanted something special! What’s better than Mystic?! Shelby grew up right in downtown Mystic with her Dad, so we knew a few awesome locations! We sent Brianne our new engagement session style guide, right now it is mostly just words describing what to wear to your session. We are working on filling it with fun outfits so that our couples have a guide to help them prepare for their session! Brianne and Drew showed up in the cutest outfits and totally nailed the looks we were going for!

To say they are an adorable couple is an understatement. One moment that really stood out to us is when we showed them the back of our camera Drew looked at Brianne and said ” you nailed that scissor kick!” and it was the cutest thing ever! The two of them endured the cold winds and even though we were all freezing, their smiles never left their faces!

The best surprise we have ever had at a session, was a swan swam right up to us to join in on the photos! It was like we were in a Disney movie!
